Old Sea Pines
Brewster on Cape Cod
The Old Sea
Pines Inn was once the center of the 300 acre estate known as the
Sea Pines School of Charm and Personality for Young Women. Founded
in 1907 by the Rev. Thomas Bickford, it continued as a school until
the 1970's. During most of its history, the school was directed and
inspired by Faith Bickford. Her strong, dedicated spirit is well
remembered by all who have experienced her. Since purchasing the
property in 1977, we have received many former staff and students
(the oldest from the class of 1917!). They have sat and shared their
memories with us, and have helped us recreate a time, an atmosphere
and style that we have tried to hold here for you to share. It was
an idealistic, uncomplicated and unhurried time that allowed the
school's residents to fully appreciate and enjoy the beauty of the
Cape. It is our hope that the Inn we have established will allow you
the same pleasures during your visit.
On rare chilly summer evenings sitting comfortably
near the log burning fire place, in the period furniture, is like
stepping back in time complete with photo albums of the Inn as it
was in the twenties.
If you like crowds of people and summer time
commercialism, Brewster is definitely not for you. If on the other
hand you want to relax in an attractive, laid-back, classic, down
east community of well established, exceedingly well cared for old
yankee homes - Old Sea Pines Inn is just right.
Downstairs the Inn's kitchen is marvelous by any
and breakfast is served every morning from 8 to 9:30
Just next to the spacious living room is the
large, completely restored formal dining room which opens to a
spacious outdoor dining deck, surrounded by trees, overlooking the
Inn's lawns and gardens.
On summer mornings a delicious, full breakfast, courtesy of the
Inn, in this cheerful ambiance is truly a delightful and satisfying
experience. The immaculately kept
Inn quite graciously manages to combine the best of yesterday and
today. It seems to have a foot happily planted in each world.
Today while maintaining its original turn of the
century style and charm it has become one of the finest Inns on the
New England sea coast.
